I tried to catch some of those reasons to interrogate them further, of course. Slippery buggers.

So, I grabbed my laptop and hooked it into the network so I could write this. I didn't plug it into the wall outlet, however. That means that when the battery is done, so am I!

I caught up reading Crap Mariner's blog. He's been busy! I haven't had the same difficulties with air. But the rant about group messages, I pretty much agreed with. It's absolutely amazing how many notices I get these days. If I don't log in every single day, my im's get capped. Ouch! Which reminds me, I have to fill out that questionnaire for one group and let them know just how bad it's gotten. 4 a day is a light day. Seriously.

I'm way behind on my SL blog reading. Way way behind. I suppose it doesn't help that there are so many of them! For something that some recent articles claim is having troubles staying alive, it sure generates a lot of blogging. Things to complain about. Things to whine about. Things to praise. Things to ponder. I could spend hours every day trying to keep up with it all. So I won't. But I'll try to follow some decent ones on a fairly irregular basis.

BTW, late-night commercials are as bad as the banner and google ads.

Anyways. This post is just a ramble. Tomorrow's inworld projects involve completing a brainy tip jar, labeling sulcii (sulcuses?), and putting info in my profile to let people know that I'm only the contractor/maintenance gal at Galveston. Store and rental questions go to Ariadne Recreant, please. She's really helpful and much more able to help you! But if you want different wallpaper in your rental, or to change the flooring, I'm your gal. Which reminds me. I wish I had the time to rebuild the Palms. I bet I could make them much better now. Yeah, yeah, I know. That artist perfectionist side of me. *sigh*

Just looked at the tv. Someone let all the gerbils out. And from the numbers, I'm guessing they got some Tribble DNA to play with. A certain E. Murphy is in the movie. Guess that 'splains a lot.

Avatars United: Why in the 'Verse Did I Join?

For some insane reason, I joined Twitter. And then I found a lot of fun people to follow, more informative sources, and a few chatterboxes. During the course of reading tweets yesterday, I learned that Linden Labs (LL) bought up Avatars United. I hadn't heard of it before that time. The tweets about joining were increasing, so I caved to the pseudo-twitter-pressure. (No, that isn't a word, but it should be!) I now have an account with Avatars United.

The site looks like a light version of Facebook aimed at our digital selves, rather than the bodies we occupy in meatspace. If you've been drop-kicked out of Facebook with your digital self, this would be the place to go.

I confess that I don't fully understand why I decided to get an account there. So far, it's not exactly intuitive on all aspects. It took some digging and almost-asking to find out how to get coins that could be used to liven up your profile's theme. You can either spend real coinage on coins, or you can complete offers. And the offers presented either cost you real coinage or are free and open you to that beloved spam. I no longer have any desire to trick out my profile. I'm just too cheap to spend money on such things. Even free spam is too high a price to pay for a cool background.

In the meantime, I'll keep watch on the site and remain active. It may turn out to be good for networking. If you feel the need, you can go to my profile.

A New Year

2009 turned into a very difficult year for me. I had to endure worsening health stretched over months before being granted surgery in November. The surgery was successful, the proofs in small things like enjoying peanut M&Ms and a whole apple. The worsening health affected my activities in SL drastically. I barely participated in anything. My store's merchandise is old. Really. Old. There's the brain project that got put on hold.

I feel energy and vitality returning to my body and mind. I know that I can face the coming year and accomplish tasks that have been long neglected. 2009 showed me so many things, including the value of true friendships.

The short version of my "to do" list includes setting up the tour track in the brain, updating my Judaica offerings, and resuming teaching at Dreams.

It WILL be a good year. I choose that.

Fred Benenson's Blog: 9/11

While this isn't related to SL specifically, I desire to post this. It's not political or religious. It's important to watch, remember who we are as Americans.

Thank you to Jon Stewart who spoke from his heart on September 20, 2001, the first show back on the air after the tragedies. While you listen, look at the NASA site's picture from space taken September 11, 2001. The smoke was so visible.

We were attacked. But we do not despair. The view changed from the Towers to the Statue of Liberty for South Manhattan. How appropriate.

We have endured, grown and are better now than ever before.
